I’m not one to write a negative review, and it really hurts me to have to write one like this. We had nothing but problems, roadblocks, and delays on our most recent refinance. We had started the process June 30th, 2020, and just closed the loan November 24th, 2020. I should have known to go with someone else when the first set of paperwork we were sent from PRMI didn’t even have the right address and we were told to sign it anyways and they would get it changed. When we responded that we weren’t comfortable with that, we were ghosted for weeks until I finally sent my 6th or 7th email and learned that our officer was out of town and it finally had a number for us to call someone else. After explaining all of this to the replacement at the beginning of September, I thought we were on track. Then the appraiser finally came out, and it took extremely long to get their results, and even longer for us to learn that we made it to the underwriting process. Cue now the middle of November and I’ve asked multiple times when are we closing, and I’ve stressed that there is only a certain window that we can make it to the title company, but we haven’t heard anything back from our loan officer, his assistant, or anyone from title. On the Friday I thought we would be closing, I finally received final documents, signed them immediately and tried to get ahold of our officer to see when the closing was. No call back, no email back. Once it became Monday, I emailed again, called the office, left a message for his assistant to call me back, and not a thing. Thinking that no one was going to call me back from PRMI, I decided to call the title company who so graciously let me know that even though I had specified a window, that they had us down for a closing in the exact middle of that window that neither my husband nor myself would be able to make it. After calling his assistant back again, finally got to talk to her. She didn’t seem to know anything except that we were still in underwriting and made a half assed excuse that the underwriters were very busy. I get that, it had just been 6 weeks since we were told we had started the underwriting process. It seems like to me that we got forgotten again, and when I called last week, they had just sent it on to underwriting. They hard pulled our credit 3 times over this process since it took so long.
There was constant, yes I’ll give you a call after ______ and then after I emailed back multiple times, a “oh I thought someone would have called you”. Yeah, and I thought you were calling me. It’s always someone else’s fault, and even when we were at the closing table, we ran into problems. Closing got moved to the next day because no one ever called for a loan payoff amount on our second mortgage that they helped us get in the first place. Then on the new closing day, as we’re literally signing our names, we get a call that this might not work because we never received a copy of our appraisal report. The response was “Why doesn’t she have that? When did you sign it?” to which I had to respond never, because no one ever actually sent us the report, we were just told that a report would be sent but we never got one. I didn’t check up on it because it’s not my job to babysit and to hold the hand of someone making a boatload of money off of my loan.
All in all, this was the worst experience of my life with a mortgage company, and I will be telling everyone to use someone else unless you want to hold the hand of a trained professional. PRMI is not worth the hassle, the stress, or the time you end up putting in.
